Bhagwan Mahavir Professorship

Blessed by Acharya Mahapragya, one of the 20th century’s most eminent Jain leaders, and by H.H the Dalai Lama, the Bhagwan Mahavir Professorship in Jain Studies was established on April 16, 2010. The Jain Education and Research Foundation partnered with the State of Florida to create an endowment in excess of $1 million to fund the professorship. The professorship also supports two Samanis (Jain nuns) from JVBU to teach courses that apply Jain ethics and principles to contemporary issues, as well as to lead extracurricular activities that promote Preksha meditation, vegetarianism and peace studies.
